
Jessie Childs was born in 1976 and educated at West
Heath, Stowe School and Brasenose College, Oxford, where
she read history and took a first in 1999.
Her
first book, Henry VIII’s Last Victim: The
Life and Times of Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey
, won the Elizabeth Longford Prize for Historical
Biography in 2007. She regularly speaks at literary
festivals, local institutions and on the radio
and has reviewed for various publications,
including The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph,
Literary Review and Standpoint.
She lives in London with her husband James and is
currently working on her second book, a tale of plots,
priest-holes and persecution in the reign of Elizabeth
